Mixer Into Guitar Pedal
I built many a rack system in the 80 s with mixers in them.
Mixer into guitar pedal. I bought an alesis multimix 8 line mixer. This way i can specify how much of the effect i want on each synth. The pedals are designed to see an unbalanced high impedance signal such as that from guitar pickups so you would need a re amp device or use a passive di box in reverse to properly match the pedal inputs for the best sound. When you play a show the mixer functions in a similar fashion but the sound is then sent to a public address system for the audience to hear.
Please help support thesoundtestroom by becoming a patreon for as little as 1 a month. The mp3 mod versions come with a 1 4 1 8 adapter to make plugging in an mp3 player a breeze. The drummer uses an e drum kit and the bass is using a sans amp into the mixer. You will also have access to exclusive patreon only content and video.
The technical reasons for this conversion are a topic for another article. I would love to find a way to get as close as possible to my live rig which is mainly a vox ac 15 or 30 with a proco rat for distortion among other pedals. The pedal mixes both the stereo mp3 input and the guitar input into a single mono ts output. Assuming you already have an audio interface or mixing console you re nearly ready to start mixing with guitar pedals you just need to convert the line level output from your interface or mixer to the instrument level signal your pedals expect to receive.
Mixers are used in guitar rigs pedal boards racks etc primarily when the guitarist wants to use effects in parallel. I have 4 synths and a drum machine so the idea is to plug them all into the mixer and use the effects send and return to plug a boss delay pedal and maybe a distortion pedal maybe a couple more. I ve tried plugging my pedalboard straight into the mixer and it really sounds horrible.
